This class prepares parents for the often-overlooked fourth trimester—those first 12 weeks after birth. Attendees will leave with self-care strategies, healing tips, and knowledge of the resources available for an informed and supported recovery.

A high-risk pregnancy can feel overwhelming - but understanding your path forward is the first step toward reclaiming confidence. This class is designed to empower you with the knowledge and tools needed to navigate labor and birth under complex circumstances. Whether you're facing a chronic condition, pregnancy complication, fetal concern, or a history of complex deliveries, we’ll explore how these factors can shape your birth experience - and how you can prepare for every stage from labor through the immediate postpartum period with clarity, strength, and support.

What You Will Learn:

  • What to expect during labor and birth with a high-risk pregnancy

  • Common interventions - what they are and why they’re used

  • How to stay actively involved in decision-making throughout your birth

  • Understanding your care team and how to communicate effectively with them

  • Strategies for advocating your values in a medically complex setting

  • Hands-on comfort techniques for partners to provide meaningful support​

Ideal For:

Expectant parents and their support person in the third trimester who are navigating high-risk pregnancy, including but not limited to: 

  • Advanced maternal age

  • Gestational diabetes

  • Hypertension

  • Cancer

  • Bleeding disorders

  • Uterine or placental anomalies

  • Autoimmune disorders

  • History of still birth or pregnancy loss
     

Expecting or preparing for: 

  • Newborns with medical needs

  • Pre-term birth

  • A birth requiring enhanced medical intervention

  • Multiples (e.g., twins/ triplets)
